FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Mixdesign, inc. purchases new building, moving design studio to Hebron, IN
After almost 20 years, Mixdesign, Inc is moving out of Schererville, IN as it expands its design build operation. The 18-year-old branding and experience design company has selected Hebron, Indiana as it’s new home. The new location is conveniently five minutes east of I65 on 231 and will house design space, a large showroom, an expanded wood and building shop as well as doubling as a rentable event space for up to 300 people.
“Mixdesign will be growing its design-build capabilities, expanding offerings in the technology arena and offering more services in the play-base, interior and experience design sector,” said Michaline Tomich, founder and CEO of mixdesign. “The design of the new location will be a nod to our agriculture and play based clientele while showcasing new services in technology and mobile experiences.”
Although mixdesign’s main purpose for the move to Hebron is to create a larger, more flexible creative space, the new location will also be designed to double as a rental facility for unique special events. Tomich hopes to accommodate companies, fundraisers and individuals looking for a creative industrial setting that is eclectic, casual and unique.
"It’s exciting that we can service clients coming from Chicago or Indianapolis by being only five minutes from Interstate 65,” said Tomich. “The value and space we are gaining is unmatched and the opportunity to grow our mobile experiences, design-build, technology offerings and showroom is an added asset for the company."
Upcycling the 16,000 square foot former Hebron church will be an exciting adventure and fantastic forever home for mixdesign, according to Tomich. This new building will provide unlimited opportunity for the mix team to showcase creativity, provide new client design, offer more technology resources and triple the build shop size.
“Hebron has welcomed us with open arms. The small-town personality and charm is refreshing and perfect for mixdesign. With so many Agriculture and National clients we loved the idea of being located slightly more rural. It also allows us to create a truly unique client experience”
Mixdesign has been working on the purchase of the vacant church since fall of 2019 prior to the shelter at home orders across the nation were placed due to COVID-19.
“Although times are tight, we have forged ahead with optimism and team transparency and are excited to keep our growth on track during these tough times,” said Tomich.
The design company hopes to maximize this slower period to gain some traction moving out of their current building and designing the new space. They hope to be ready to ramp up their activation for more clients when everyone is hopefully in their office again in late 2020. Mixdesign has continued work from home for their existing clients during the shelter at home timeframe.
“Due to COVID-19, our team has discovered the need to be even more creative and resourceful for clients,” said Tomich. “We are now offering online educational creative, online kids experience design and tools to keep kids learning in fun ways. This has aided many of our clients who now find their physical experiences closed to walk-in customers in light of the pandemic.”
